The Liar - by David Ives
Produced by Oklahoma City University February 2016. Directed by: Dr. David Pasto Costume Design by: Catherine Miller Lighting Design by: Travis Baldwin Stage Managed by: Jacob Bannerman In my final semester at Oklahoma City University I worked as Costume Designer for the university's production of The Liar. With the play set in the mid seventeenth century but containing comedic dialogue and behavior targeted at a twenty-first century audience, the overarching goal of my design was to portray the historical period through the lens of a post-modern farce. With the intent of nudging the characters out of history I caricatured the period to look over-the-top while using color and texture choice to visually match characters together in their wild jumble of relationships. |

Epic Love Story - by Frank Lewendowski and Joe Brannen
Produced by Pathway of Grace Church Easter 2015 Directed by: Joe Brannen Costume Design by: Catherine Miller Makeup Art by: Catherine Miller Set and Props Coordination by: Catherine Miller Lighting Design by: Joe Brannen Epic Love Story was a passion play written and produced for the Good Friday service at Pathway of Grace Church in Mesquite, Texas. For this show I served in multiple capacities, bringing a professional touch to the otherwise amateur production. As both designer and shop manager I directed the creation of the costumes, makeup, and set. Innovation was required for many aspects of the build process as we created several tricky elements including multiple sets of roman armor, a large prosthetic for deep lash wounds, and a set which could transform from a city location to a rocky landscape with ease in minimal time without needing any backstage facilities. Epic Love Story - 2017 remount Working with the same team as before, Pathway of Grace remounted Epic Love Story for the 2017 Easter season. Updates included polishing the construction of original costumes, re-painting the armor, and crafting a new wounds prosthetic for Jesus. The new modular prosthetic was made of cast silicone and consists of six pieces, designed so that it could fit a different actor should the show be remounted again in the future. |

Exit the King - by Eugene Ionesco
Produced by Oklahoma City University January 2014. Directed by: Heath Jones Costume Design by: Catherine Miller Set Design by: Savannah McIntyre Lighting Design by: Alec Danz Stage Managed by: Jessica McCoy In the 2013-2014 school year, I was given the opportunity to be Costume Designer on a Stage 2 production of Exit the King, working alongside a student director and an all-student design team. Our concept for this production was "Decadence into Decay" and from that the characters became broken fairy-tale figures. These people were once larger than life and now must face mortality. Since part of the show involves time dissolving and realities blurring I used a mixture of styles in which fairy-tales have been portrayed, allowing the differences in style of dress to put the characters in contrast or agreement with each other. |
